International Study Tours

Pavia and Rome, Italy
In 2008, students from the Human Resource Management major went on a trip to Italy. The trip was designed to enhance students’ understanding of Human Resource practices in Europe and provide them with an excellent opportunity to compare human resource practices worldwide. Students visited Santa Caterina da Siena College, Collegio Nuovo in Pavia, Temple University and John Cabot University in Rome, where they delivered presentations on the role of Emirati women in the development of the UAE, as well as HR challenges faced in the process of Emiratization. Students visited cultural and historical sites such as the Colloseum, Pantheon, Vatican Museum, and Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

Hong Kong, China
The International Study Tour to Hong Kong in 2008 was designed around an industry linked research project for the final year students of the Financial Services major. The project required students to research, visit and interview relevant financial actors in order to compare and contrast Dubai and Hong Kong as major city economies and financial centers. The trip provided students with an opportunity to visit major financial institutions such as The Bank of China, Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Hong Kong Stock exchange. Students learned about the banking sector of Hong Kong and the growing importance of China in the world of finance. Among other places of interest, students visited the Heritage museum, Ocean Park and Stanley Market.
