Melbourne, Australia Early Childhood Education students had a chance to visit and intern at the Melbourne University Early Learning Centre in Australia in March, 2010. Through this placement students gained invaluable experience of working outside of their own country in a multicultural context. They engaged with experienced practitioners employing elements of both the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia. They also shared the experience of living, studying and working in preschools in the UAE with their Australian colleagues.
Scotland, Great Britain A HCT - Dubai Bachelor of Education student was selected to attend the leadership program at Al-Maktoum Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies in Scotland in 2010, together with 5 HCT - Dubai students from other departments. They joined a group of 40 students from prestigious academic institutions in the Gulf. The Al-Maktoum Institute is a centre of excellence for study of Islam and Muslims, with the aim of promoting intelligent debate and understanding of Islam and the role of Muslims in the contemporary world. The Scotland trip provided numerous opportunities for the UAE students to present their culture and tradition to Scottish students as well as visit places of interest in Scotland and learn about the local culture. |
