New Academic Year Kicks Off With Impressive Number Of New Faculty And Staff

Dubai Women’s College (DWC) Business Faculty recently hosted a group of American undergraduate students from California Polytechnic State University to build cross-cultural understanding and to collaborate on a number of academic projects. The visit was the start of a longstanding relationship two institutions intend to build in an effort to enhance student learning.

During the visit, DWC students and faculty delivered a number of presentations to their American counterparts revolving around: Emirati history and culture, Dubai’s economy and strategic plan, international trade, and Islamic finance. Additionally, the students laid the foundation for a number of future collaborative efforts. The visit included a tour of DWC campus featuring student-run businesses, the new Entrepreneurship Centre, and the state-of the-art Fitness Centre.

The visit was part of ongoing efforts by DWC faculty to promote international exchanges between Emirati students and their peers across the globe. Nao Valentino, Manager of the new DWC Entrepreneurship Centre commented, “Exchanges such as this increase our student’s international exposure and in turn makes them more productive, responsible and conscious global citizens.”

Dr. Monica Gallant, Chair of the Business Department at DWC, was instrumental in promoting the relationship between the two institutions. “These collaborative projects managed across international institutions are invaluable to our students as they enter a globalized environment,” Dr. Gallant concluded.
